About the Painting
This piece shows a towering forest edge in Muskoka, Ontario. This piece is named forest cathedral because the looming foliage was so intense, it felt as though there was a doorway or portal welcoming you into the forest world. Rich chromium oxide greens are complemented by anthraquinone blues, slate grey and sienna browns. Despite the overhead light of the sun, the forest is very dark and inviting.
