About the Painting
This painting captures a serene image, as though you are perched on the edge of a river. The water appears like it is hardly moving as it flows by. Because of this, the surrounding forest perfectly reflects off of the river like a mirror. A large beech tree is reaching over the water, creating a tunnel like canopy. The light is very low and the scene is covered in a dewy morning mist. The foliage of the surrounding forest casts a green and yellow image over the river. A closer look at the painting reveals pigments of iron oxide red, ochre browns and violet oxide throughout the woody limbs of the beech tree and forest floor below it.
