About the Painting
Trees can be the living record of hundreds if not thousands of years. This piece features the wide and weathered trunk of a quaking aspen tree, which is considered one of the oldest and largest organisms in the world. Much of this stately and robust tree is painted in shades of violet oxide, titan cream, cyan and cerulean blue. Roots gnarled with strength and age reach across the earth below the tree. The background is misty, it is early morning and the sun is just waking up. The traces of light are completed in delicate naples yellow linework throughout the foliage.
